Richard P. Fray
Richard founded Fun Birding Tours in January 2010. He is available for hire as a bird guide by the day in Arizona. He also leads our SE Arizona birding tours, fun birding workshops in SE Arizona, and is one of the leaders of our Fun Birding Tours to Belize, England and the Shetland Isles.
Richard grew up in Leicester, England in a wildlife-mad household and has been a birder since he was big enough to pick up binoculars. He became involved in several local wildlife organizations in the UK, and held various positions with the Leicestershire & Rutland Ornithological Society and Leicestershire & Rutland Dragonfly Group. He moved to Tucson, Arizona in 2002 and has permanent resident status in the USA. He was elected to the Board of Directors of Tucson Audubon Society in April 2009 and occasionally writes for the Vermilion Flycatcher magazine. He also participates in local birds surveys.
Richard’s Wildlife Photos have appeared in a number of publications including The Birds of Scotland, LROS Annual Bird Reports (including the cover in 2003), British Birds, Birding World, Birdwatch, Birdwatching and Vermilion Flycatcher, amongst others.
Rob Fray
Rob lives on the Shetland Isles, Scotland, and leads the Fun Birding Tours there. He also leads tours in Belize. More info coming soon.
Philip Mai
Philip is one of the foremost birders and birding guides in Belize. He is credited in Birds of Belize, the standard field guide for the region, for supplying vital information on Belize’s bird populations.
Armed with a lifetime’s knowledge of the wildlife of the Cayo district, Philip is the lead bird guide on the duPlooy’s staff, and also the lead guide for Fun Birding Tours in Belize. Fun times are guaranteed with Philip in charge!
He is a native Belizean who lives in a village near duPlooy’s with his family. He usually commutes to duPlooy’s each morning by canoe.
Fermin Tzib
Like Philip, Fermin is one of the finest birders and bird guides in Belize. He runs his own guiding company, Belize Wings, and specializes in leading birding tours all over Belize and beyond.
Fermin is a quiet and considerate guide whose enthusiasm for wildlife always shines through. He’s a native Belizean living in a village near duPlooy’s with his family. As well as an encycolpeadic knowledge of wildlife in Belize, Fermin is also an authority on local Belizean cultures and traditions.
