The mesquites and palo verdes were teeming with birds, which included an interesting low-elevation HERMIT WARBLER, BLACK-THROATED GRAY, MacGILLIVRAY’S, ORANGE-CROWNED, several WILSON’S and scads of YELLOW WARBLERS, a family party of COMMON YELLOWTHROATS, an immature male BULLOCK’S ORIOLE and both WARBLING and CASSIN’S VIREOS. Lake Cochise had 1 SEMIPALMATED PLOVER, 2 STILT SANDPIPERS, 1 BAIRD’S SANDPIPER, c.10 WESTERN SANDPIPERS, 50+ LEAST SANDPIPERS, 2 LESSER YELLOWLEGS, c.30 LONG-BILLED DOWITCHERS, c.150 WILSON’S PHALAROPES, 2 SPOTTED SANDPIPERS, 1 AMERICAN AVOCET and c.20 BLACK-NECKED STILTS. A few KILLDEER and 30+ LONG-BILLED CURLEW were by seasonal pools. [...]
WHITE-EARED HUMMINGBIRD was regular, a BERYLLINE made a brief appearance to grab a huge chunk of nesting material, whilst BLUE-THROATED, MAGNIFICENT, BROAD-TAILED, BROAD-BILLED, BLACK-CHINNED and ANNA’S made it eight species in total. [...]
